The only thing about riding a bike from Portland to Phoenix is that in-between there is something called... NEVADA.

Fallon and Hawthorne

Traded riding 70 miles to Hawthorne in 20 mph headwinds for wandering around the town of Fallon. Thankfully Brad offered us a ride and lodging with his good friends John and Cheri, bypassing the worst of the South winds and oncoming storm.

Found the Churchill County Museum and immersed ourselves in the local culture.

Just finished an excellent dinner in Hawthorne, ready to hit it hard tomorrow. We'll push towards Tonopah (100 miles) and  Goldfield (+30 miles) where altitude drops and temperatures rise.

  1. More kind souls, and rest, yay! I like the big gnarly tree! Sounds like an interesting and fun day :) Looks like snow in the forecast for today/tonight, and a bit windy! Oh no! If you plan to camp, stay warm and cozy tonight! Lower elevation and warmer temps will be nice!
    Be safe :)
